A fresh opportunity for local food
Our ambition is that by 2026, 50% of public money spent on food and drink in the South West will be spent directly with small and medium-sized producers based in the region.
To achieve this, we are supporting the development of a new framework for Dynamic Food Procurement in the UK. This is a new approach to public sector food procurement that will help small and medium-sized producers in the region to sell directly to public sector institutions.

Bring Dynamic Food Procurement to Your Region
Take Action with DPUK Food
MATCH-FUNDING – The South West Food Hub is coordinating a regional application to the The Dixon Foundation‘s latest challenge: How can we shorten and improve the transparency of supply chains used by public sector anchor institution food procurers in the UK?
We are talking to public sector institutions now – to secure £100k of match-funding that will bring environmental, economic and health benefits to your organisation and network. To secure this funding we are applying in April 2022 – we need you to get on board today. Local authorities, universities, hospitals, armed forces – institutions that have net zero to climate pledges, get in contact now
The South West Food Hub is supporting a national coordination body called Dynamic Purchasing UK (DPUK). DPUK is encouraging the national take up of a dynamic food procurement model, co-founded by – and for the benefit of – purchasing authorities in every region of the UK, and is partnering with The Dixon Foundation to bring this funding opportunity.

Shortening food supply chains
The South West Food Hub is supporting the region’s food network to buy and sell locally, establishing shorter and more sustainable supply chains. We work across the South West’s food sector, focusing primarily on public procurement.
